Movie and television stars gathered at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles for the 30th Screen Actors Guild Awards Saturday night (February 24). It's the first awards show to stream live on Netflix and the Guild's first event following the historic actors' strike last year.

Several Black actors were nominated for influential award categories, including Danielle Brooks (The Color Purple), Sterling K. Brown (American Fiction), Colman Domingo (Rustin), Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Jeffrey Wright (American Fiction), and Ayo Edebiri (The Bear). The Color Purple and American Fiction competed with last year's viral hits Barbie and Oppenheimer for the coveted Motion Picture cast award. Abbott Elementary was nominated for the Comedy Series Ensemble award.
