Keeping with tradition, former President Barack Obama has shared his annual list of favorite shows, series, movies and books. Leading the way, the former President's favorite songs stole the show. His diverse taste in music created a list that included the work of Lil' Baby, Chris Stapleton, Koffee and Phoebe Bridges. Obama also spent time jamming to "Savage" by Megan Thee Stallion and "Lemonade" by Internet Money.
The former President's movie and television list also added a bit of spice. Instead of separating films and television, he grouped them together for the first. As many Americans have noticed, Obama pointed out that his viewing habits have changed and it's harder to distinguish between films and television currently.
“Like everyone else, we were stuck inside a lot this year, and with streaming further blurring the lines between theatrical movies and television features, I’ve expanded the list to include visual storytelling that I’ve enjoyed this year, regardless of format,” he tweeted.
In his joint television and film list, Obama gave a nod to the popular ESPN documentary, The Last Dance, and Chadwick Boseman's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. He also showed love to HBO's I May Destroy You and Netflix's Queen's Gambit.
In his third and final list, the former U.S. Senator compiled a list of his favorite books. While he did release a popular book of his own, he remained impartial and omitted his work.
"As 2020 comes to a close, I wanted to share my annual lists of favorites. I’ll start by sharing my favorite books this year, deliberately omitting what I think is a pretty good book – A Promised Land – by a certain 44th president. I hope you enjoy reading these as much as I did," he tweeted.
Throughout the year, the former President read Caste by Isabel Wilkerson, Deacon King Kong by James McBride and Missionaries by Phil Klay. All in all, it looks like the former President had a lot to enjoy this year.
