FBI Agents Fatally Shot While Serving Warrant At Florida Home

Five FBI agents were shot while serving a search warrant as part of a violent crimes against children case in Sunrise, Florida, on Tuesday (February 2) morning. Agents arrived at the Water Terrace apartment complex around 6 a.m., and the suspect barricaded himself inside his home.

During the standoff, the suspect opened fire on the agents. Two of the agents were killed, and the other three were wounded. Two of the injured agents were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition. Officials did not provide information about the condition of the third agent who was shot.

The suspect took their own life, according to a report from WPLG.

Authorities have not released the names of the agents or the identity of the suspect.

Authorities said that the scene was safe just after 9 a.m. but advised residents to remain inside their homes.

The FBI said it is investigating the circumstances of the shooting.

"In accordance with FBI policy, the shooting incident is under investigation by the FBI's Inspection Division. The review process is thorough and objective and is conducted as expeditiously as possible under the circumstances," the agency said. "Because this is an ongoing investigation, no further information will be released at this time."
