At any given moment, Speedy Morman could be anywhere while doing anything. At the end of 2020, he sat down with former President Barack Obama to discuss his new book and at the top of 2021, he was talking to Zion Williamson about his future in the NBA. This summer, he caught up with Offset of the Migos to do something a bit different than he's used to. With the support of HBO Max, Offset enlisted the star journalist to host his new show, The Hype. Together, the duo will look to find the next great streetwear designer and help launch their career.
"Streetwear without culture… is just fashion. Welcome to the playground, where ten visionary designers must prove their chops in style, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurship – or face elimination," the show's description reads.
"Guided by street-style icons A$AP Ferg, Offset, Cardi B, Wiz Khalifa, Dapper Dan, Bobby Hundreds and more, they’ll compete for a single grand prize: an industry co-sign, a feature on streetwear platform StockX, and $150,000. They’ve got to keep it on-trend, fresh and authentic – who will rise up to the challenge?"
Offset is the latest in a long line of talented musicians to team up with HBO and bring their vision to life. In the past, HBO has worked with Beyoncé to debut Lemonade and J. Cole to bring his 2014 Forest Hills Drive experience to the big stage. Not to mention, Method Man starred in The Deuce and Mack Wilds played a key role in arguably the greatest television series of all time, The Wire.
Offset will officially join this group of accomplished artists on August 12 when The Hype debuts on HBO Max.
