Cops have arrested Breonna Taylor's aunt and are seeking out Jacob Blake's father following demonstrations against the police killing of Black motorist Jayland Walker, NBC News reports.
On Wednesday (June 6), Bianca Austin, Taylor's relative, was taken into police custody after protesting in Akron, Ohio, where Walker was murdered last month at the hands of police. A bench warrant was also issued for Jacob Blake Sr, per the Blake family.
Blake Sr. and Austin went to Akron for the protests on behalf of Families United, a group that advocates for police accountability.
While in their vehicle, the pair witnessed a cop punch another man in the face during the protest. Blake Sr. and Austin left their van to question police about the incident, but instead were confronted by officers .
“They were down there supporting the family and the community when this thing occurred and when the brutality turned on them,” Justin Blake, a Blake family member, told NBC.
The Summit County Jail confirmed that Austin was in custody on charges of alleged rioting, disorderly conduct, and failure to disperse.
No records were immediately available to confirm that Blake Sr. was also under arrest, according to the jail.
However, the Blake family said Blake Sr. was taken to an Akron hospital following his encounter with police on Wednesday.
Blake Sr. and Austin have continued to fight against police brutality across the country after Jacob Blake was severely wounded by police gunshots and Taylor was killed in her apartment during a police raid.
