A pregnant teenager in South Carolina was found dead just days after missing her induction date.
On Sunday (February 18), the body of 17-year-old Maylashia Hogg, who was nine months pregnant, was found just a few blocks from her home in Barnwell, South Carolina, per HuffPost.
Hogg was last seen on February 8 and reported missing on February 14 by her family after she missed her induction appointment, which was scheduled for the day before.
Hogg's cousin, Robert Payne, said the teen was "excited to be a mom."
“I know somebody did something to her," Payne told WACH.
Kimberly Kite, the founder of The Broken Link Foundation, which helps search for missing people, told WPDE that Hogg's family contacted her after they said authorities failed to help them notify the public of her disappearance.
“When a family reports a loved one missing, police have got to listen to the family,” Kite said.
Hogg's disappearance has sparked speculation related to the missing persons' case of Michael Still, who was last seen at his home on February 6. Police said they've found "no concrete evidence" that Still's case is related to Hogg's but deputies are continuing to “follow all leads."
Hogg's family is seeking answers and justice for her disappearance and death.
“We’re gonna find justice. We’re gonna get them, whoever did it. Just know. We’re gonna get you. We ain’t gonna stop,” Hogg's aunt, Judy Hogg, said.
