MGM Sets Thanksgiving Release For 'Creed III' Directed By Michael B. Jordan

It is official! Michael B. Jordan is slated as the director for the latest installment of the Creed franchise. MGM has also shared that the next Creed film will find its way into theaters in November 2022.

This news comes as no surprise to die-hard Creed fans. For years, Rocky producer Irwin Winkler has teased the idea of Jordan taking over as the director when Sylvester Stallone decided to step away. Jordan's co-star, Tessa Thompson, added more fuel to the fire when she also said that he would take over as the director for Creed III.

"He is directing the next Creed. It’s gonna be ammo, I think, for me when he is engaging with me as a director. I’m just going to tell him to dial down the sexiness," she jokingly said during an interview.

Jordan will take over for Sylvester Stallone, who is responsible for creating the original Rocky franchise. Since 1976, Stallone has had a hand in producing or directing every Rocky-related film that his theaters. After Creed II hit theaters, Stallone reportedly told Jordan that he was looking to step away from the franchise permanently.

This far from the only project that Jordan is working on. He recently starred in the first full trailer for Without Remorse starring Lauren London. He is also slated to star alongside Chanté Adams in the Denzel Washington-directed film, Journal for Jordan. Not to mention, he recently signed on to co-produce a new series about Muhammad Ali with Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter. Most notably, Jordan is expected to star in the upcoming film, Wrong Answer. Written by Ta-Nehisi Coates and directed by Ryan Coogler, the film will focus on the 2006 standardized test scandal in the Atlanta Public Schools. It is unclear when the film will hit theaters.
