Master P Shares Plan To Own An HBCU

Percy "Master P" Miller is no stranger to setting lofty goals. In recent months, he's set out to build the first Black-owned supercar company and own an NBA franchise. Now, it appears that he's adding another goal to his list - owning an HBCU. This week, Miller took to social media to share his hopes as well as launch his own campaign.

“I used to want to own an NBA team but now I want to own an HBCU,” he wrote on Instagram

"This message is all about educating our people. Anybody that’s listening to this and has a business, I want y’all to join this movement with me. We need to make sure our kids get educated the way other cultures are educated."

Miller noted that one his biggest inspirations has been Kamala Harris. In January, Howard University graduate ascended to the second-highest office in the land. She is the first Black woman and the first HBCU graduate to work in this capacity. Making the accomplishment that much more special, the Howard University band joined her on Inauguration Day.

"More women graduate from HBCU’s than any other university and I love that. If we’re going to change the narrative, it has to start with the truth, education, and economic empowerment," he added.

"I was shocked when I Googled who owned and founded HBCU’s. We can’t change the past but we can change the future by investing in the next generation. They going to have to sell some of these schools to us, or fund it the same way other major universities are funded."

At this time, it's unclear what historically Black college or university will try to gain ownership in, but he appears determined to see this through.
