Brett Favre Says 'It's Hard To Believe' Chauvin Killed Floyd Intentionally

Super Bowl-winning quarterback Brett Favre upset many with his comments regarding the State v. Chauvin trial. During a recent conversation with conservative media personality Eric Bolling, he said that it was "hard to believe" that former police officer Derek Chauvin intentionally killed George Floyd on May 25.

"I find it hard to believe, and I'm not defending Derek Chauvin in any way, I find it hard to believe, first of all, that he intentionally meant to kill George Floyd," Favre said.

"That being said, his actions were uncalled for. I don't care what color the person is on the street. I don't know what led to that video that we saw where his knee is on his neck, but the man had thrown in the towel."

Favre's comments about Chauvin deviate from the remarks he delivered just last week. During a recent interview with The Daily Wire, he said that he does not like when sports and politics intersect.

"I know when I turn on a game, I want to watch a game. I want to watch players play and teams win, lose, come from behind," Favre said.

"I want to watch all the important parts of the game, not what's going on outside of the game, and I think the general fan feels the same way."

His conflicting statements have drawn criticism from a number of sports reporters who called into question his recent politics. While playing football in a predominantly Black league, Favre veered away from politics, but has been pictured with Donald Trump in his post-playing career.

Stop asking Brett Favre questions about race-related things. Thank you," Emmy-nominated sportscaster Chris Williamson wrote.

"On this subject, Mr. Favre [you need to] shut the f--- up," former NFL wide receiver Steve Smith added.

After taking heat for his comments, Favre opted to stand by his original comments. He issued a follow-up statement on Wednesday.

"I just gave my opinion. I'm certainly not a racist in spite of what some people might think, and you know, I'm for unity and I just feel like there's a better way to unify our country. That being said, there's a lot of things that need to stop," Favre said.
