Floyd Mayweather Jr., Logan Paul Plan Boxing Match For June

One household may be home to the two biggest celebrity boxers today. Earlier this month, Jake Paul earned in a major bag as he knocked out former UFC fighter Ben Askren in the first round of their boxing match. Now, it appears that his brother, Logan Paul, will take an even tougher challenge, Floyd Mayweather Jr.

After teasing the fight in the winter, it appears that Paul and Mayweather have come to an agreement in principle. According to Mike Coppinger of The Athletic, the two fighters are scheduled to enter the ring during the first week of June. It was originally reported that the fight would take place on June 5, but June 6 is being considered as a potential date for the bout. Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas and Atlanta appear to be the leading candidates to host the fight.

There are two hurdles in putting the fight together. First, there is a major size difference between the two fighters. Logan Paul is listed at 6'2 and weighs approximately 190 pounds. Meanwhile, the former welterweight champion weighs about 150 pounds and stands at 5'8. Under the reported agreement, Paul can weigh no more than 190 pounds and Mayweather Jr. can weigh no more than 160 pounds. Regardless of the size difference, Mayweather is expected to be a heavy betting favor because of his significant advantage in both skill and experience.

The second hurdle that the two fighters are working around is the date of the bout. One of the leading candidates to host the bout is the city of Miami, Florida. However, lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez and challenger George Kambosos are set to fight at the Meridian at Island Gardens in Miami on June 5. If the fight does land in Miami, it is possible that it could be moved to June 6. With that said, it is not uncommon for there to be multiple high-profile fights in separate locations on the same date.

Regardless of where the fight takes place, it is slated to be broadcast via Showtime Pay-Per-View. More details regarding the bout will be added to this report as they become available.
