The self-named “QAnon Shaman” who attacked the Capitol wearing horned headgear and red, white, and blue painted face, pled guilty to felony charges on Friday (September 3).

Jacob Chansley, who named himself after the conspiracy theory-generating online platform, pleaded guilty to a felony charge for obstructing the Electoral College proceeding after reaching a deal with prosecutors.

Chansley was a very visible participant in the insurrection, making his way to the Senate chamber shirtless and standing right where former Vice President Mike Pence sat minutes before evacuating the chamber

According to CNN, Chansley appeared in DC court virtually. His plea was accepted by District Judge Royce Lamberth. Chansley originally faced six felony charges, and pleaded to one of the more serious charges.

If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison, though that may be unlikely because he does not have a previous criminal background. His deal with prosecutors also includes a $2,000 restitution fee and he could still face a fine up to $250,000.

In February, Chansley went on a hunger strike in a plot to get organic food while imprisoned. Chansley’s attorney requested his client be released from jail before sentencing, to the opposition of the US Justice Department. Judge Lamberth is set to make a ruling on his potential release before sentencing soon.

When Chansley’s sentence comes down, he’ll be credited for time served.
