Two White Men Charged For Shooting At Black FedEx Worker

Two white men have been arrested and charged after a Black FedEx worker says they chased him down and shot at him while he was making deliveries last month.

D'Monterrio Gibson says he was making deliveries in a Brookhaven, Mississippi neighborhood when he looked up and saw a white pickup truck barreling towards him.

"In my mind, I'm thinking [the driver] is going to go to the store or something like that, but then they got extremely close to me and start blowing their horn," Gibson, 24, told The Mississippi Free Press.

As Gibson leaves the driveway of the residence where he's making the delivery, the pickup truck driver "starts driving in the grass, trying to cut me off."

"My instincts kick in," Gibson told the outlet, "I swerve around him, and I start hitting the gas trying to get out the neighborhood because I don't know what his intentions are."

Gibson says he got about "two or three houses" down the street when a man standing in the middle of the road pointing a gun at him, "signaling me to stop with his hands, as well as mouthing the word, 'Stop.'"

Gibson ducked down and swerved around the armed man when shots rang out. He sped away and only lost the two after making it to the interstate highway.

Police, Gibson said, didn't take him seriously when he reported the incident and told him they received a "suspicious persons" complaint at the address.

The men, identified as Gregory Case and his son Brandon Case, turned themselves in on February 1, The Free Press reported. Gregory drove the truck, while Brandon fired the shots, and now face charges of conspiracy and aggravated assault, respectively.

The posted bail on a $75,000 bond for Gregory and $150,000 bond for Brandon.

Gibson's attorney, Carlos Moore, wants each of them charged with attempted murder, telling the outlet that the men's actions are tragically reminiscent of those of Gregory and Travis McMichael and their neighbor William Bryan, who chased down and shot Ahmaud Arbery.

"It seems to be a copycat duo, copying off the Ahmaud Arbery case," Moore said. "They were working concertedly to try to entrap and kill this man... It's amazing that he survived," Moore added.
