Ketanji Brown Jackson will officially be the first Black woman to serve as a Supreme Court Justice after securing the final Senate Floor vote on Thursday (April 7).

It's been a journey not without hurdles since President Joe Biden first nominated Justice Jackson. First, the history-maker faced hours of questioning during the Senate Confirmation hearings.

Then, earlier this week, the Judiciary Committee's vote to push Jackson's nomination to the Senate Floor resulted in an 11-11 tie. That was until three Republicans, Senators Susan Collins of Maine, Mitt Romney of Utah, and Lisa Murkowski broke party lines and voted in Jackson's favor in a tiebreaking discharge petition vote.

From there it was smooth sailing as all 50 Democratic Senate members remained unified behind her nomination along with the three Republican Senators.

Today, Judge Jackson was confirmed as the 116th Supreme Court Justice in a historic 53-47 vote.

Twitter is buzzing with political figures and celebrities alike reacting to Justice Jackson securing her spot on the nation's highest court.

Newly-named Supreme Court Justice Jackson will be waiting in the wings until this summer when the Court's term ends and Stephen Breyer retires his seat.
