Juno Beach made some national headlines this week for two reasons. One of them being Georgie.
The director at Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach said Georgie is the largest leatherback sea turtle ever to be found on Juno Beach.
According to the rehabilitation center, Georgie weighs approximately 1,200 pounds, which is about 400 pounds heavier than the average leatherback.

The outlet says Georgie was first tagged back in 2020, this year she returned to Juno Beach and has already laid several nests.
Juno Beach also made national headlines recently when a video posted to the private Facebook Group, "Florida Adventure Hunters" showed a nest of baby Leatherback sea turtles hatching and making their way to the ocean.
