Comedian and actor Mo’Nique is starring in the next season of BMF, which airs on Starz January 6th. In an interview with iHeartRadio's Jazmyn Summers, the actress dishes on her upcoming role as well, what it was like joining the BMF cast, and her four-decades spanning relationship.

You have been married for 16 years but have known your hubby Sidney Hicks for 40 years. What would you say is the secret to keeping a relationship hot and spicy?

Communication. Honesty. And be extreme when it comes to your mate. Get you a costume every week. Have breakfast in bed. Be extreme when it comes to your love for your man and your family. And be that unapologetically. I was doing an interview one time with my girl Tammy Roman, and she says to me, Mo’Nique, are you a morning time or night time person [for sex]? I said I'm anytime. If he asks me for it. If you call out my name. I'll come running. Stay on the honeymoon.

You play Goldie, a strip club owner, in the upcoming season of BMF. Tell me about your character.

Goldie is the sister that the community loves, but the church folks hate.  I had an Aunt Vera, right? And anything you thought you needed, my Aunt Vera could give it to you and get it for you. That’s who Goldie is. Some people that looked at that and said, 'oh my goodness, look at this villain.' And there's some people that looked at that and said, 'oh my goodness, look at this hero.' She’s straight gangster for her people

What is your relationship like with Meech?

Big Meech and Goldie develop a relationship that's very nurturing. Both ways. Because Goldie sees the strength, she sees the beauty, she sees the vulnerability, she sees the insecurity; she sees all of this in this young man, but she also sees these two kings.

Why do you think BMF is so important?

Because a lot of our drug movies, we don't get to see the part where that mom and daddy are fighting for their babies. We just assume that it's a single family household. We assume that the parents are on drugs. We assume all these things, but you get a chance to see it when this mom and daddy are saying, we will not lose you to this. And I love it when Nicole says they didn't come from a broken family. They came from a broken system.  You got a chance to see the the son now saying to the daddy, 'I can cover these bills.' And the daddy saying, 'I'm the man in here.'

What's next for Mo'Nique?

You're getting an exclusive baby! I'm making an Italian soup for my family and Imma try to do a vegan cornbread cause it's getting cold. That's what's coming up.
