The Pittsburg Steelers' CPR-style celebration has social media buzzing just days after Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin had to be resuscitated on-field following his mid-game collapse.

The controversial celebration occurred during Sunday's matchup between the Pittsburg Steelers and Cleveland Browns. After Steelers linebacker Alex Highsmith sacked Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, a teammate gave Highsmith fake chest compressions in celebration of the big play.

Though the Steelers won the game, many social media users thought their CPR-style celebration was "classless" and done in "bad taste" as Hamlin continues to recover from cardiac arrest.

"I'm a lifelong Steelers fan but I'm deeply ashamed of this. Totally classless," one social media user wrote.

Others argued that Steelers players have performed similar CPR-style celebrations before Hamlin's life-threatening injury. Highsmith himself has been relaying his support for Hamlin on Twitter following his mid-game collapse.

"Fans who haven’t watched much of the Steelers haven’t seen them do the CPR celebration before, but think it was bad timing. Steelers do it all the time prior to Hamlin’s situation. They weren’t intending to mock Damar Hamlin whatsoever," one Twitter user said.
