Nicki Minaj delivered high praise for the Trump administration during a surprise appearance at an annual event for conservative organization Turning Point USA.
On Sunday (December 21), Minaj walked out hand-in-hand with Erika Kirk, the CEO of Turning Point USA and widow of founder Charlie Kirk, as she entered the Phoenix Convention Center to speak at the organization's annual AmericaFest.
The two embraced to the rapper's hit "Super Bass" before beginning the conversation.
“I’m honored to be here, thank you for having me,” Minaj said.
During the discussion, Minaj praised Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance while also continuing her attacks against California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
“I have the utmost respect and admiration for our president," the rapper said, adding that Trump has given people hope “that there’s a chance to beat the bad guys and to win, and to do it with your head held high and your integrity intact.”
“I can relate to them when I hear them speak. I know that they’re one of us,” Minaj continued of the president and VP. “They haven’t lost touch of the world… they have the ability to still connect and be real and make us feel proud to be American.”
During Sunday's event, Kirk also asked Minaj to read several of her recent social media posts criticizing Newsom, which the CEO called "amazing" and "so funny."
“Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids. Haha. Not even a trans ADULT would run on that. Normal adults wake up & think they want to see HEALTHY, SAFE, HAPPY kids," Minaj said, reading her December 12 tweet.
Minaj has repeatedly criticized Newsom for expressing support for transgender children. When asked what she would say to Newsom directly, Minaj used a derogatory nickname popularized by Trump.
“We don’t have a problem cleaning up the scum if we have to, please tread lightly — that’s what I’d say to Gavie poo,” she said.
Minaj's surprise appearance at Turning Point USA comes amid her recent vocal support of the Trump administration.
The rapper previously shared social media posts highlighting Trump’s accomplishments during his second term. She also appeared at the United Nations headquarters, where she made disputed claims pushed by Trump regarding extremism against Nigerian Christians.
