Beyoncé gave Teyana Taylor her flowers after the actress-singer won her first Golden Globe.
On Tuesday (January 13), Taylor revealed that Bey sent her flowers to congratulate the One Battle After Another star after she won Best Supporting Actress at the 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 11). The nod marked her first nomination and win at the ceremony.
During Tuesday's premiere of Netflix's The Rip, Taylor told Extra that Bey's gesture was deeply meaningful.
“It was just so sweet. Oh my god. I just love her,” Taylor said. “She’s been supporting me since I was 15 years old. … It’s always been very, very consistent. I also love that she’s watching me grow and watching me blossom. I love making her proud. I love that she don’t miss a chance to remind me of how proud she is of me. That means the world to me.”
Taylor and Beyoncé have shared a long-standing relationship since she was a teenager. Taylor has frequently credited Beyoncé for believing in her early and offering encouragement throughout her career.
On Sunday, Taylor beat out nominees Emily Blunt, Elle Fanning, Ariana Grande, Amy Madigan, and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas to take home the Best Supporting Actress award.
During her acceptance speech, Taylor reflected on the unexpected win.
“I almost didn’t even write a speech because I didn’t think I was [going to win],” Taylor said. “Thank you to the Golden Globe voters for seeing me and reminding me that purpose always finds its moment.”
The actress closed with an empowering message to Black women and young girls watching.
“Our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine,” Taylor said. “We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter, and our dreams deserve space.”
