House Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) recently announced plans to launch a leadership Political Action Committee (PAC) to support future candidates as she prepares to leave Congress later this year.

During an April 29 episode of Sherri Shepard’s Sherri show, Crockett unveiled her plans to launch a leadership PAC to help find and support like-minded politicians, according to the Dallas Morning News

Calling it the Fueling Individual Rights Everywhere (FIRE) political action committee, Crockett said she aims to take the PAC nationwide.

“I'm going to go on tour across the country," Crockett said. "We are going to educate people about what it is that elected officials can do, should be doing, and what they're doing wrong."

Crockett has backed candidates in the past, including her recent endorsement of former Rep. Colin Allred of Dallas in the Democratic primary runoff against Rep. Julie Johnson later this year.

Crockett’s FIRE announcement comes after her loss to James Talarico in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate in March.

During her appearance on Sherri, Crockett spoke about the Black women who inspired her to succeed, including Shirley Chisholm and Barbara Jordan.

“I'm walking in with the weight of those that came before me, but also understanding that I've got to do everything that I can for those coming behind me,” she said.
