A streamer known for shouting racial slurs at Black people in public has been arrested in Tennessee on attempted murder charges.

Dalton Eatherly, known as ‘Chud the Builder’ online, was arrested on Wednesday (May 13) following a shooting outside the Montgomery County Center, according to Clarksville Now

The arrest warrant, obtained by the outlet, claims that Eatherly and another man, Joshua Fox, got into a verbal confrontation before Eatherly “turned his body in a bladed stance” and reached for a firearm in his jacket pocket. Eatherly then allegedly fired multiple shots at Fox’s stomach and shoulder, before being shot in the arm.

Both men were reportedly taken to Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital for treatment, with Fox undergoing emergency surgery. He is currently in stable condition, and his wife has set up a GoFundMe in support of his recovery.

Eatherly appeared in Montgomery County Court on Friday (May 15), where he was officially charged with attempted criminal homicide, employing a firearm during a dangerous felony, aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon.

Judge H. Reid Poland III set his initial bond at $1.25 million due to “how many people were in the courtyard and near the courthouse” at the time.

Eatherly’s bond hearing is scheduled for May 21 at the Montgomery County Courts Center, with a preliminary hearing set for May 26.

Eatherly, who goes by “Chud the Builder” online, is known for livestreaming confrontations where he shouts racist language towards Black people in public.

The shooting comes days after Eatherly’s arrest at another Nashville restaurant during another livestream incident. He was previously arrested on May 10 while livestreaming at Bob’s Steak and Chop House, according to The New York Times

According to the affidavit, provided to the outlet, Eatherly “became disruptive and started making racial statements, yelling, screaming and otherwise creating a scene,” despite repeated requests from restaurant staff to stop.

He also reportedly refused to pay for his $370 meal and was charged with theft of services, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest, but was later released on a $5,000 bond.
