A Black Alabama teen who had been missing for five days was found charred and dismembered in the woods by his family.

18-year-old Markavious "Mark" Rumph was reported missing on May 6 in Eufaula, Alabama, after having last been seen at a gas station, according to the Eufaula Police Department

WRBL reported that family and volunteers found Rumph’s remains in a nearby forest on May 11, where he had been shot, dismembered, and set on fire.

“They basically burned my baby, shot my baby, burned him up and chopped him up,” Marcus Rumph, Rumph’s father, told WRBL on May 14. “I’m dealing with it the best I can right now.”

Officers reportedly responded to a tip about human remains being found near White Oak Church Road on May 12. However, according to Rumph’s mother, Yolanda Wynn, the police department did not help with the search.

“I looked for five days for my son, with no help from the Eufaula Police Department,” she told the outlet. “Me and my family in the rain on Mother’s Day, I walked through those woods.”

While police have not publicly named any suspects, Rumph’s family believes someone they know may have been involved, as he was reportedly last seen leaving the gas station with a friend, WRBL reported.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact case investigators at 334-687-1200. Mark’s family has also set up a GoFundMe page to assist his parents with funeral expenses, as well as therapy and daily expenses.

“Mark was an 18-year-old with a bright future ahead of him. He had recently obtained his GED and was truly aiming for the stars, inspiring those around him with his determination and hope,” the GoFundMe page reads. “Tragically, Mark’s life was cut short in a senseless crime in Eufaula, Alabama, leaving his parents, Yolanda Lynn and Mark Rumph, and the community heartbroken and searching for answers.”
