Attorneys representing three of Nolan Wells’ friends are threatening to sue The View co-host Sunny Hostin, accusing her of falsely linking their clients to the 18-year-old’s death.

According to TMZ, attorneys for Warren Hudson, Jax Pitalo and Morgan Seymour sent Hostin a letter demanding that she apologize, retract and delete comments she made while discussing Wells’ death on a July episode of Behind the Table with The View.

The attorneys are giving Hostin 10 days to respond before pursuing a lawsuit.

Hostin questioned what happened to Wells’ cellphone and social media accounts, saying, “In my view, there are a lot of inconsistencies, especially around his, Nolan’s cellphone and cellphone records and ... social media profiles being erased.”

She also questioned how police interviewed Wells’ friends.

“I would think that those three boys would have been brought in to, um, the police department, separated in different rooms, and they should be giving an account of what happened,” Hostin said. “I don’t know that that’s happened here, and that is shocking to me.”

Hostin also described Wells as “the only Black kid on an island full of kids that were white” while discussing the mystery around his disappearance.

The attorneys argue Hostin’s comments effectively accused their clients of serious crimes, including murder, hindering prosecution, and evidence tampering, according to TMZ.

The lawyers say the three men had nothing to do with Wells’ death, cooperated with law enforcement, and turned over their phones and information. They were never arrested or charged.

Wells disappeared during a July 4 trip to Horn Island and was found dead two days later. An independent autopsy commissioned by Wells’ family listed his cause and manner of death as undetermined. The official investigation remains ongoing.
