President Donald Trump is once again targeting former President Barack Obama, this time sharing a meme that labels Obama more corrupt than Richard Nixon.
Trump shared the meme Sunday (October 4) on Truth Social; It features side-by-side photos of Obama and Nixon with the caption: “One of these men is the most corrupt president in the history of the United States. The other is Richard Nixon.”
Nixon resigned in 1974 as the Watergate scandal engulfed his administration, becoming the only U.S. president to resign.
The post is the latest in Trump’s years-long attacks on Obama, who left office nearly a decade ago.
Trump first made Obama a target in 2011 by promoting the false “birther” conspiracy theory, which questioned whether Obama was born in the United States.
Obama released his long-form birth certificate that year showing he was born in Hawaii, but Trump continued to question its authenticity for years, ABC News reported.
Trump continued targeting Obama after being elected in 2016.
In 2017, he accused Obama of ordering a wiretap of Trump Tower during the 2016 campaign, a claim for which he did not provide evidence. The FBI and DOJ also said they had no information to support the claim.
Trump has also repeatedly accused Obama and officials from his administration of improperly targeting him through the federal investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Those attacks have continued during Trump’s second term.
His Justice Department is investigating whether Obama-era officials improperly targeted Trump through their handling of the Russia investigation, with former CIA Director John Brennan among those subpoenaed in the probe, The Washington Post reported last month.
