Angela Stanton-King, a conservative activist and former Republican congressional candidate who received a presidential pardon from Donald Trump in 2020, wants to become the next White House press secretary.

In a social media post shared Saturday (October 17), Stanton-King urged Trump to appoint her, saying the White House needs a press secretary who will speak candidly and stand by the truth.

“President Trump, appoint ME. I promise I’ll get the job DONE,” she wrote, adding that the ratings would be “HISTORIC” and “the group chats would be in SHAMBLES.”

“No scripts. No sugarcoating. No backing down,” she added.

Her pitch comes after Katie Zacharia was fired as White House press secretary Friday (October 16), just five days after starting the job.

According to 11Alive, Stanton-King ran for Georgia’s 5th Congressional District in 2020, initially challenging the late civil rights leader Rep. John Lewis before Democrat Nikema Williams became the party’s nominee following Lewis’ death. Williams won the general election.

Trump pardoned Stanton-King in February 2020 after she served prison time for a federal conspiracy conviction related to a stolen vehicle ring. Since then, she has worked as an author, criminal justice advocate, and conservative political commentator.

The White House has not announced a permanent replacement, and no public indication suggests Stanton-King is being considered for the role.
