One Of Two L.A. Deputies Injured In Apparent Ambush Released From Hospital

One of the two Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies who were ambushed and shot by a gunman in their police cruiser has been released from the hospital.

"Great news, one of those deputies was released from the hospital today. He has a long road ahead for recovery. But he's not alone. We, as a community, are in this together," Los Angeles Sheriff Alex Villanueva tweeted.

The other officer, 31-year-old Claudia Apolinarremains hospitalized after getting shot in the face and torso. Despite her injuries, Apolinar managed to get out of the vehicle, radio for help, and apply a tourniquet to her partner's wounds.

Authorities are still searching for the suspect who brazenly walked up to their car and started shooting through the window. Officials are now offering a $300,000 reward, which includes pledges from private citizens, for any information that leads to the arrest of the suspect.

A surgeon from Wyoming offered $50,000 to help catch the suspect.

"This surgeon from Wyoming wants everyone to know that this horrific attack didn't just affect those in Los Angeles, but it affected everyone in the United States who care about our law enforcement officers," Villanueva wrote in a series of tweets. "It's not just an L.A. thing, it's an American thing."
