Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman Escorts Kamala Harris At Inauguration

The Inauguration day events are underway and all eyes are on the incoming administration as they make their official entrance into power.

On Inauguration Day, Kamala Harris is making history as the first Black and South Asian and woman to take the office of the Vice President of the United States.

To escort her and the Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman is on the job.

Officer Goodman bravely stemmed off a mob of Donald Trump supporters on January 6 when hundreds breached the Capitol building, threatening the safety of members of Congress as they certified the results of November’s elections.

Goodman’s actions were praised for distracting the mob away from the Senate chamber, just one minute before they were sealed, helping potentially avoid an even more dangerous situation.

Officer Goodman was recognized and officially announced onto the platform of the Capitol, where just two weeks ago, rioters had destroyed the property and attempted to take hostages.

Goodman is currently serving as the acting Deputy Senate Sergeant at Arms, a position fitting given his demonstrated bravery.
