Jimmy Fallon Blasted For Not Crediting Black TikTok Creators In Dance Bit

The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon is under fire for a dance segment he did during his Friday (March 26) show. In the segment, he brought on Addison Rae, a popular TikToker who “taught” Jimmy Fallon viral dance challenges, but didn’t give the Black TikTok creators of the dances proper credit.

The segment, “Addison Rae Teaches Jimmy Eight TikTok Dances,” went viral after the show aired, and people online questioned the choice of putting Rae on the show, when most of the dances were originally choreographed by Black people. Concern about the erasure of Black TikTokers and lack of credit also swirled on Twitter, many expressing their frustration, especially as many Black creators on the platform have sounded the alarm about inequality in exposure.

Some also pointed out how much better the original dances look compared to what Addison Rae did on the show.

TMZ spoke to Addison Rae who claims that erasing the originators of the dances was not her intent. She told the outlet that proper credit was given in the YouTube video of the segment, not on the show. She also admitted that she didn’t even “do them justice,” and reportedly has plans to work with the Black TikTok creators in the future.
