A white woman has been fired from her job after she was caught harassing a Black fisherman in a viral TikTok video, NewsOne reports.
Video shows the woman approaching a Black man who said he was fishing in his neighborhood.
"Are you guys residents here?" the woman questions the man. Another woman accompanying the fisherman responds: “Are we bothering anyone?"
“This lake is for residents only,” the woman, who is now being deemed a "Karen," says in the video.
The fisherman, who is recording the incident, then addresses the camera, saying that this is the third time a white person has harassed him while fishing.
“So y’all hear what I go through, right? This is the third person. … I’m in my own neighborhood, and a white person came and bothered me while I’m fishing," he says in the video. “She’s like ‘Oh no, I’m not giving you permission to film.’ This is my phone, I can film and do whatever I want. I study the law."
The woman threatened to take down his license plate number and send it to authorities before eventually walking back to her car.
“What’s your name, by the way? Because at the next meeting, I’m definitely going to mention you,” the man says as she walks away.
“Her name is Karen,” the woman accompanying the fisherman says.
The video has garnered over 8 million views on TikTok. Social media identified the woman as Tanya Petty, an employee of Sea Glass Therapy.
Soon after the video went viral, the company moved to fire Petty.

We stand against discrimination of all forms. We have terminated our business relationship with the Independent contractor, Tanya, in order to uphold our values and standards.
