A Black content creator is getting a lot of attention after he digitally disguised himself as a white man for a few livestreams. Just_Relax_Kid, who has over 20,000 subscribers on YouTube and streams on Twitch, revealed his viewership exploded after he turned off his webcam and pretended to be white.

"I really got 3x more viewers since I took off my cam and decided to be a white man," he posted on X Saturday (December 2) before following up with a video showing his streaming numbers when his facecam was on. When Kid was showing his face, he was only garnering hundreds of views. After turning off the camera, the YouTuber noticeably got a slight bump in views.

Once Kid placed a stylized image of a white man with a beard and glasses, he suddenly started getting thousands of views and even broke 22,000 views at one point.

"I played little to no rap music and just let my 2000s pop playlist rock. Talked the same way and everything changed nothing about my personality," Kid explained in response to a commentator. "I was just being funny for a day and noticed a jump in numbers so I did it again and here we are."

While the gaming streamer found the whole affair amusing, even going as far as to post a clip from Django Unchained, many people are questioning Kid for allegedly downplaying the racial element of the situation.

"Dude, it’s okay to be angry. this IS racist," one user responded. "What else is this supposed to make us feel? happy?"

Another person wrote, "It is racist. Its incredibly sad you don't see that. Pathetic."

"I never said 'racist' I never asked for people to pull out the pitch forks," Kid wrote in the thread. "I even said I’m not angry. I just did a thing a showed you the numbers. It wasn’t even a social experiment, I just didn’t wanna use my cam and thought it was funny (for the race baiters)."

He continued, "Yea I’m shocked of course, but it’s more laughable to me if anything. Like we aren’t surprised but we are iykyk."

The post racked up over 73,000 likes, and his video got more than 8.5 million views as of Tuesday morning (December 5).

Many viewers and streamers have been side-eyeing Twitch for years about how they treat and uplift their Black creators, such as when they only acknowledged Kai Cenat's achievements with a pair of custom sneakers earlier this year.
