A Texas mother who opened fire on a teenager trying to break into her home is now facing eviction. Aleah Wallace, 25, told FOX 4 she was cleaning her living room when she heard someone attempting to enter her Fort Worth home early morning on December 14.

The mother of four claims she spotted the alleged home invader, later identified as 14-year-old Devin Baker, standing at the window of her 8-year-old daughter's bedroom.

“I went, and I stood in the hallway. And I could see him standing at the window, lifting it up. I just shot,” Wallace recounted to reporters. “I didn’t know he was 14 when he was on the other side of that window. All I knew was that somebody could come in and hurt me or my kids. That’s it.”

The news station learned Baker, who also lives in the apartment complex, died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Then the 25-year-old mother got the news that she may be evicted from her home of six years. Wallace lives in subsidized housing, meaning she could face steep challenges in finding another home if evicted.

“The apartments called and told me that I was not supposed to have a gun at all, even though I kept calling them and telling them somebody was breaking in," Wallace told FOX 4. "They told me I could not have a gun, and I have 30 days to vacate."

The mother said she got a gun after four attempted burglaries at her house.

There are no laws prohibiting residents in government-subsidized housing from owning a firearm, according to the news station. Reporters said there were no signs posted on the property forbidding guns, either.

"I feel like I’m back at square one," Wallace said.

The Fort Worth Police Department hasn't filed charges against Wallace over the shooting, but her case is heading to a grand jury.
