Sephora has addressed the viral TikTok video showing a group of teenagers wearing blackface in a Boston store.

The TikTok user who recorded the incident said the girls used Sephora's makeup samples to paint themselves in blackface. In the video, a Sephora employee appeared to be confronting an adult accompanying the group of minors who were walking around the store giggling and wearing blackface.

The TikToker said they were "genuinely disgusted and disturbed" over the group's actions.

"My teammates and I arrived in Boston for a track meet this weekend and walked around Sephora before dinner to kill time," the video's caption reads. "These group of teenage girls and their mothers come in and go to the makeup section to use samples for blackface whilst giggling and making animal sounds."

When the Sephora employee confronted the group, a mother dismissed her and walked away, according to the TikToker. The TikTok user added that two mothers asked them to delete the video because "they didn't consent."

In a statement to the Atlanta Black Star, Sephora confirmed the incident occurred at a store in Boston's Prudential Center. The company condemned the group's behavior in the video.

“Sephora’s top priority is to create a welcoming and inclusive shopping experience for all. We are extremely disappointed by the behavior of these shoppers at our Prudential Center location, and as such, they were asked to leave our premises. Under no circumstance is this type of behavior tolerated at Sephora," the statement reads.

Social media users called for the girls to be banned from the store. The identity of the individuals involved remains unclear.
