Kyle Rittenhouse is again sparking outrage as he is set to speak at the University of Memphis about the "lies of BLM."

According to the Commercial Appeal, Rittenhouse, who was acquitted of fatally shooting two men and injuring another during a protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, was invited to speak at the University of Memphis on March 20 by a chapter of Turning Point USA, a right-wing organization that seeks “to identify, educate, train and organize students to promote freedom."

An advertisement circulating on social media states Rittenhouse will speak about "the importance of the Second Amendment and the lies of BLM."

The upcoming speaking engagement has sparked widespread outrage among social media users.

Tami Sawyer, the Democratic nominee for Shelby County General Sessions Court Clerk and a University of Memphis alum, asked Bill Hardgrave, the school's president, to "make it make sense" in reference to allowing Rittenhouse to speak on campus.

“The @uofmemphis has Kyle Rittenhouse speaking on 2A and the lies of BLM,” Sawyer wrote on X. “Please help me understand this happening in this 65% Black city.”

In a statement, the University of Memphis noted that Rittenhouse's upcoming speaking engagement isn't sponsored by the school.

“Under the First Amendment and Tennessee’s Campus Free Speech Act, the University of Memphis cannot legally prohibit such events from being hosted by a registered student organization,” the university said.
