The winning Kentucky Derby trainer was recently interviewed by ESPN and avoided answering questions about previous tweets he apparently made about Vice President Kamala Harris.
Eric Reed, the trainer of the 2022 Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike, is being accused of making sexist remarks about Harris in an online exchange with former Trump advisor Sebastian Gorka.
Back in January, Gorka tweeted, "So what exactly are Kamala Harris' qualifications?" An account with the name Eric Reed replied, "Heard she's good on her knees!!"
Reed appeared on ESPN's Outside the Lines on Wednesday (May 11) and avoided questions about the remarks, and neither confirmed nor denied that he wrote the sexist message.
"Haven't been told about it. I don't know what's going on out there," Reed said. "I'm more concerned with Richie and what's going on with us, and this great horse, and how much he's helping everybody."
Reed continued, "So, there's haters out there, and that's about how I'm gonna leave something."
The now private "Eric Reed" Twitter account where the tweet originated has "Horse trainer and Reagan conservative" in the bio. The profile also has "Owner of Mercury Equine Center" in the bio, which, in real life is Reed.
