Georgia will become the center of the political sphere next week when the state holds Senate runoff elections. With the current Senate split by party, the results of January's elections could very well sway the balance of power in Congress. Democrats hope to pull both seats in an effort to push forth measures regarding student debt and coronavirus relief.

The Peach State is no stranger to the political spotlight. In November, Biden scored a major upset and won the state en route to the White House. By doing so, he became the first President-Elect since Bill Clinton in 1992 to defeat a Republican challenger in Georgia.

In January, experts a voter turnout to resemble the record numbers seen during November. Thus far, nearly 2.4 million residents have voted early. This year's early voter turnout has been higher than any other in state history and a surprise to many because the last eight runoff elections have featured record low turnout.
