Tiger Woods Transferred To Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Following Car Crash

Superstar golf pro Tiger Woods has been transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center following a horrific car crash earlier this week. While there, Woods will be treated for "continuing orthopedic care and recovery." He had been previously been treated at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

On Tuesday morning, Woods was traveling through Rancho Palos Verdes at a "relatively greater speed than normal" in an area that has a "high frequency of accidents." The vehicle rolled over and the golf pro had to be extracted using the jaws of life.

In the aftermath of the incident, Woods was transported to the aforementioned Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Anish Mahajan of the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center reported that the father of two suffered multiple "open fractures" in his right leg. He also endured damage to the talus bone in his left leg.

“Mr. Woods suffered significant orthopedic injuries to his right lower extremity that were treated during emergency surgery by Orthopaedic trauma specialists at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, a level 1 trauma center. Comminuted open fractures affecting both the upper and lower portions of the tibia and fibula bones were stabilized by inserting a rod into the tibia. Additional injuries to the bones of the foot and ankle were stabilized with a combination of screws and pins. Trauma to the muscle and soft-tissue of the leg required surgical release of the covering of the muscle to relieve pressure due to swelling," Dr. Mahajan stated following the accident.

Meanwhile, local authorities reviewed the scene of the accident to determine a possible cause. Initially, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva did not rule out impaired judgment as a cause for the incident. After further investigation, Villanueva has publicly stated that drugs and alcohol were not the cause for the accident.

"He was not drunk," Villanueva stated.

"We can throw that one out."

Woods will continue to recover at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for the foreseeable future.
