Rep. Jim Jordan's Twitter mentions are on fire this morning after he made a few comments about the COVID-19 pandemic in America. Quoting a video of a crowded college football stadium in Wisconsin, the Ohio congressman tweeted that "real Americans" were done with the COVID-19 pandemic. Shortly after his tweet hit the timeline, a number of people chimed in to let him know how they felt.

"COVID-19 is not done with 'real America.' Not by a long shot," Medium star Patricia Arquette replied.

"You are such an inconsiderate person and a real loser. You are far from 'real' America. What a shame you represent any America at all," accomplished publicist Kelly Swanson added.

This is not the first time that the Ohio lawmaker has made such a statement. During a House Coronavirus Crisis Subcommittee hearing in April, he clashed with Dr. Anthony Fauci and Rep. Maxine Waters while discussing how the country should handle the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Are we just going to continue this forever? When do we get to the point, what measure, what standard, what objective outcome do we have to reach before Americans get their liberties and freedom back?” Jordan asked while discussing COVID-19 precautionary measures.

“You’re indicating liberty and freedom, I look at it as a public health measure to prevent people from dying and going to the hospital,” Fauci replied.

“I don’t look at this as a liberty thing, Congressman Jordan, I look at this as a public health thing. I disagree with you on that completely," Fauci added later on.

Despite Jordan's claims, COVID-19 infections are rising across the country. As of September 6, John Hopkins University has reported that COVID-19 related deaths in the U.S. have risen by 56% within the last two weeks. Moreover, the number of new COVID-19 cases has risen 11.2% within the last two weeks.

Given the recent spike in COVID-19 infections, Fauci is also at odds with Rep. Jim Jordan's most recent comments. During a recent interview with MSNBC, Fauci emphasized that COVID-19 is not done with "real Americans."

"People would like to say we’re done with COVID, but COVID is not done with us," he said.

"You can’t wish it away when you have the numbers of infections that you just mentioned a moment ago."
