A Boynton-area woman is warning about a bank scam.
Arlene Schwartz says someone called her claiming to be from Chase Bank, telling the grandmother that someone made more than $6,000 in fraudulent purchases through her Chase debit card. Then, the caller said they would send someone to Arlene's home to get the card and issue her another one or put a lock on the card.
Schwartz fell for it. A man arrived and she handed him her debit card and in a short amount of time her checking account was cleaned out.
The Better Business Bureau says banks will never send a representative to your door to talk with you about credit card fraud. They also say that if you get a call from someone claiming to be from your bank, you can call your bank to confirm it is legitimate.
Chase replaced the money stolen from the woman's checking account.
