Seahawks Radio Host Suspended Over Transphobic Tweet

Bonneville Seattle has reportedly suspended its Seattle Seahawks pregame and postgame radio host due to a tweet mocking transgender people shared Wednesday night.

Dori Monson, 59, shared the tweet in response to Governor Jay Inslee's comments made during the Washington gubernatorial debate with Republican nominee Loren Culp, the Seattle Times reports.

“Inslee: we follow science in WA. The state where I could go to Olympia tomorrow and change my birth cert to say I was a girl on 10/2/61 HAHAHAHAHA,” Monson shared in a since-deleted post.

Monson also hosts a daily program on KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, a conservative talk news station, along with his duties as host of the Seahawks' pregame and postgame radio shows, the Seattle Times reports. Both radio stations are owned by Bonneville Seattle.

The Seattle Times said it reached out to Monson regarding the suspension but he declined to comment. Monson joined the Seahawks' radio coverage in 2002 and hosts a Friday segment on 97.3 with head coach Pete Caroll, according to the Seattle Times.

Monson was not on-air Friday. KIRO Radio programming director Bryan Buckalew declined to comment when contacted by the Seattle Times on Friday, but said the company did not comment on personnel matters, the newspaper reported.
