Simone Biles Affirms Support To LGTBQ Community After Uber Eats Controversy

Uber Eats recently launched the “Tonight I’ll Be Eating” commercial campaign which features several ads with celebrity appearances.

Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles and star co-host of Queer Eye Jonathan Van Ness starred in one of the commercials where the duo showed off their talents in matching leotards.

“Anything Simone Biles can do, Jonathan Van Ness can do… in his own, amazing way,” the ad reads.

One Million Moms, a conservative Christian group, responded to the commercial with a petition demanding Uber Eats to take the ad down for “pushing the LGTBQ agenda,” and “attempting to brainwash viewers,” according to a report by PEOPLE.

Biles responded in a tweet to the group’s petition, reaffirming her support of the LGBTQ community.

The petition started by the group has about 7,000 signatures as of Thursday (November 6).

A spokesperson for Uber told PEOPLE in a statement, “At Uber Eats, we’re unapologetically committed to representing the flavor spectrum. From tacos to talent, we like it spicy," later adding, "JVN and Simone serve gymnastic prowess to ferosh self-confidence, qualities millions of moms everywhere can ––and do––support."
