Regina King Drops Trailer For Her New Movie ‘One Night In Miami’

Regina King has been acting on screens since 1985 when she played “Brenda Jenkins” on the hit television series 227

Since then, the actress has starred in a variety of movies and shows, becoming a staple in Black Hollywood classics like: Friday, Boyz n The Hood, Poetic Justice, Ray, This Christmas, and more.

The Hollywood veteran even flexed her talents voicing the infamous brother duo “Huey” and “Riley” on the animated series The Boondocks

She won her first Academy Award in 2019 after winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in the 2018 romantic tragedy, If Beale Street Could Talk

Now, King is taking her talents behind the camera, directing her first film, One Night In Miami

The star dropped the trailer on Wednesday (November 18) night on social media, creating a buzz from Black filmmakers and fans.

The film takes a fictional look at the gathering between Malcolm X, Muhammed Ali, Sam Cooke, and Jim Brown who were all in Miami on the night of February 25, 1964.

The gathering between these icons is said to have been about the mounting pressure they felt to use their celebrity status to further the fight for civil rights.

The film stars Kingsley Ben-Adir as Malcolm X and Eli Goree as Muhammed Ali. Aldis Hodge plays Jim Brown, and Hamilton star Leslie Odom Jr. plays Sam Cooke.

The movie is set to be released January 15, 2021 on Amazon Prime Video.
