Kamala Harris Shares Husband’s Formal Title And Her Personal One

“Is he the second gentleman?” Jake Tapper from CNN asked Vice president-elect Kamala Harris in a new joint interview with President-elect Joe Biden.

“Is he the second dude? What should we be calling him?” Tapper jokingly asked about her husband, Doug Emhoff.

Harris laughed and said, “Well, I think that the term has evolved into the second gentleman.”

Adding that some of his friends may prefer “second dude,” along with Tapper who said “I like second dude, but I will defer.”

Harris and Emhoff married in 2014 while she was attorney general of California.

Emhoff is leaving his job at the law firm DLA Piper once she takes office in January.

He first took a leave of absence from the firm in August to support Harris on the campaign trail with Biden.

When Tapper asked if she’ll be referring to her husband by the formal moniker, Harris responded, “No, I’ll call him honey.”

Typically, “second gentleman” and “second lady” are used to describe the spouse of the vice president.

In the rest of the interview, Tapper asked the incoming leaders a variety of topics, including their plans for handling the coronavirus pandemic.

President-elect Biden shared his plan to get Americans wearing mask during the first 100 days of his presidency to help slow the spread of the virus.
