Biden, Trump To Hold Conferences On Pandemic At The Same Time

Both the current and incoming presidential administrations will be addressing the country about the pandemic today (December 8).

President Donald Trump is scheduled to hold a summit at 2:00 p.m. at the White House. The event will reportedly be to stake a claim in the credit for the coronavirus vaccine, according to NBC News

Around the same time, President-elect Joe Biden is expected to introduce his health team who will be responsible for rolling out the vaccine to Americans once he takes office , including his cabinet pick for Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, CDC Director pick Rochelle Walensky, Surgeon General pick Vivek Murthy, and the Covid-19 response team leader Jeff Zients

Both conferences come the day Britain begins administering its first round of coronavirus vaccines.

The pandemic in the US has taken a turn for the worse, reaching more than 15 million confirmed cases of coronavirus, a number that continues to grow as the effects of Thanksgiving travel become more apparent

Top infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci warns America could see its darkest time in the middle of January in the wake of holiday travel and gatherings, as reported by CNN

This means the incoming Biden administration will come into power at a crucial time in the pandemic as millions remain out of work, and the spread of the virus narrows hope for a quick return to a familiar way of life.
