VP Mike Pence Told Trump He Can’t Change Election Results

On Tuesday (January 5) Vice President Mike Pence reportedly told Donald Trump that he can’t block Congress’ certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in November’s election.

According to a report by CNN, the outgoing president told Pence his refusal to block the certification could be politically “damaging.”

Sources added that the VP informed Trump that he doesn’t have any authority to block the certification, despite Trump’s insistence.

A statement released by Trump’s campaign refuted the conversation even happened.

“The New York Times report regarding comments Vice President Pence supposedly made to me today is fake news. He never said that. The Vice President and I are in total agreement that the Vice President has the power to act,” Trump said in the statement.

Since the announcement of Biden’s landslide victory, Trump, his campaign, and loyalists have made paraded false election fraud claims and lost every legal challenge they brought to courts around the country in an attempt to change the election results.

Most recently, the president called Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger asking him to “find” votes. The recorded conversation being called “an abuse of power” by incoming vice president Kamala Harris.

At a campaign event for Georgia Republicans David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler, Trump said he’d change his mind about Pence if he couldn’t deliver a block to the vote certification. “And I hope Mike Pence comes through for us… of course If he doesn’t come through, I won’t like him as much,” Trump said.

A source close to the White House told CNN that Trump is angry with Pence and even threatened to “lash out” at him during a speech set to take place Wednesday (January 6) at the White House.

For now, sources reportedly say Pence and other Republicans like Majority Leader Mitch McConnell are refusing to continue to fan the flames of Trump’s quest to overturn the election.
