The 'Courtside Karen' Issues Apology After Exchange With LeBron James

Los Angeles Lakers v Atlanta Hawks

The reaction to the Lakers-Hawks game in Atlanta has been absolutely wild.

After the clips of her back-and-forth with James (and her explanation via her Instagram Stories) went viral, James dubbed her "Courtside Karen" in a late night tweet. Juliana Carlos, aka Courside Karen as LeBron James would say, issues an apology following being ejected from the Lakers game last night. Here is what she said in an apology on Instagram:

About last night..to say things escalated quickly at yesterday's game is an understatement, and I want to apologize for losing my cool and removing my mask in the heat of the moment. My husband is a huge sports fan and we're passionate people, and lets be real, sports wouldn't be sports without a little trash talking. What should have been a quick back and forth between two adults got out of hand and my natural instinct to stand up for the man I love kicked in. Did I get defensive when that happened? Yes. Did I use offensive language when I could have taken the higher road? Yes. And for these things, I take full responsibility.

The Hawks are investigating the incident where four courtside fans allegedly yelled obscenities at LeBron James, team CEO Steve Koonin told The Athletic's Chris Kirschner and Jovan Buha.

One of the four involved, Juliana Carlos, posted on social media after the incident that she'd been ejected from the game. Carlos said she was verbally defending her husband, Chris, against James.
