Will Smith Says He'll Consider A Run For Political Office 'At Some Point'

Over the years, a number of celebrities have floated the idea of running for public office. In the past, rumors have suggested that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Oprah Winfrey have had an interest in running for office, but nothing came from it. It looks like Will Smith may be adding his name to that growing list. During a recent interview with Jon Favreau, Smith teased the idea of running for political office.

"I think for now I’ll let that office get cleaned up a little bit and then I'll consider that at some point down the line," Smith said.

"I absolutely have an opinion, I’m optimistic, I’m hopeful, I believe in understanding between people and I believe in the possibility of harmony. I will certainly do my part, whether it remains artistic or, at some point, ventures into the political arena."

This is not the first time that Smith has teased the idea of running for office. During the early stages of Donald Trump's first presidential campaign, he said that he may run just to stop Trump's bid.

“If people keep saying all the crazy kinds of stuff they’ve been saying on the news lately about walls and Muslims, they’re going to force me into the political arena,” he said.

While he may be interested, his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, is clearly not. Smith has been open about his wife's opposition to his political ambitions.

“Sometimes, I hear people say things on television, and I want to run against them," Smith told Stephen Colbert.

“My wife has said on numerous occasions, ‘Hell, no.' I’m not sure what she means by that, but that is what she said."
