Lizzo Begins Working On The First Series From Her Amazon Deal

Amazon and Melissa "Lizzo" Jefferson have started working on the first series from their recent deal. The show is is still untitled, but it appears that it will feature the music superstar searching for backup dancers and models to join her upcoming tour.

"A new unscripted series following global superstar Lizzo as she continues to search for dynamic, full-figured women to join her world and perform with her on stage. Only the most talented dancers and models will have what it takes to twerk it out on tour and stomp it out on the runway," the series description reads.

The show is not only taking shape, but the two parties are also putting out the call to models and dancers looking to star in the series. Earlier today, Amazon published a tweet offering an open tryout.

"We've been [waiting] for this one. Lizzo has a new unscripted series and she's looking for models and dancers who have too long been left out of the picture. Head to http://biggrrrls.com to apply," the company tweeted.

Amazon has slowly ramped up its original content in recent months. Most notably, the platform released the highly-anticipated film, Coming 2 America, starring Eddie Murphy and Jermaine Fowler earlier this month. The network is also developing a limited series chronicling the life of Muhammad Ali with Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter and Michael B. Jordan set to produce. More recently, Lena Waithe teamed up with the tech giant to unveil the first trailer for the show, Them, starring Deborah Ayorinde and Ashley Thomas. The horror series is set to debut in early April.

The untitled Lizzo project is still in its infant stages. As a result, Amazon has not shared a projected release date for the show just yet.
