President Biden Set To Fundraise For Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms

President Joe Biden is scheduled to headline a campaign fundraising event for Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, a first for the president during his term so far. Mayor Bottoms is seeking a second term as Atlanta’s chief.

According to an invitation to the fundraiser first obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the event will take in donations ranging from $100 to $100,000 in a virtual event on Friday (March 26).

Georgia was a battleground during the November election, for both the presidency and Senate. During Biden’s presidential campaign, Mayor Bottoms campaigned on his behalf and contributed to Georgia’s historic flip to blue since the early 1990s and Biden’s victory.

Mayor Bottoms also worked with President Biden while campaigning for Sens. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff whose wins in fierce runoff races effectively gave control of the Senate to Democrats. In January, President Biden nominated Bottoms to be the Vice Chair of civic engagement and voter protection of the Democratic National Convention.

According to a report by The Hill, Bottoms was considered as a vice president option for Biden last year and was reportedly offered a Cabinet position which she ultimately turned down.

Mayor Bottoms was first elected mayor in 2017.
