Images Show White Students Eating While Black Students Going Without Food

Educators at Kids "R" Kids preschool in Roswell, Georgia are under fire after their seemingly abusive treatment of young, Black children. On an April 7, a parent by the name of Marquis posted a photo of his child's classroom on Instagram. In the photo, it appears that the class has started a snack time of sorts, but there is one issue with the photo. All of the white or white-passing children in the classroom appear to have food while the Black children are left with nothing to eat.

“Why does every white kid have their food? Not one Black child has food in front of them! Thank God for cameras in classrooms because there is no way to hide this racism," he wrote.

“As Blacks we always strive to send our kids to schools in suburban areas, but I’m telling you first hand that is not always best. This is not a Black or white issue, this is simply wrong. Kids R Kids, I’ll be waiting [for] feedback fom your corporate office on this.”

A statement from Kids "R" Kids called the incident "random and isolated." The education company apologized for the matter and cut ties with the school in question located in Roswell, Georgia.

“The interactions captured on video by one of our families, yesterday, is disturbing and not in accordance with the inclusive culture that we promote at Kids ‘R’ Kids amongst our families, their children or our staff,” Kids "R" Kids International, Inc. CEO David Vinson said.

“We apologize to the family, the community and all of those impacted by the situation, and will use this as a learning tool to remind our Kids ‘R’ Kids staff on the importance of diversity and inclusivity.”
