Jonathan Major Negotiating Deal To Star In 'Creed III'

Deadline has reported that Jonathan Majors is currently negotiating a deal to go toe-to-toe with Michael B. Jordan in the upcoming installment of the Creed franchise. The background of the character is still under wraps, but he is described as Adonis Creed's "nemesis."

Those who are not familiar with Majors by name are certainly familiar with his work. The University of North Carolina graduate has appeared in films like The Last Black Man In San Francisco, White Boy Rick and Da 5 Bloods. He has also starred in television series like When We Rise and Lovecraft Country. Moving forward, he has signed up to star in Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Netflix's The Harder They Fall.

Majors joins as the Rocky and Creed franchise undergoes a few major changes. Most importantly, Sylvester Stallone has announced that he will not take part in Creed III. This is a major shift because Stallone has not only starred in every Rocky and Creed film, but he has also participated in the directorial and production process for every Rocky and Creed film since 1976. Also, Michael B. Jordan is set to make his directorial debut with Creed III. Previously, Ryan Coogler and Steve Caple Jr. have directed Creed films.

MGM nor Jordan have shared the direction of the third film, but it does appear that Jordan and his co-star, Tessa Thompson, will return. The team behind the film has also shared that the film will arrive in theaters in November 2022. Outside of that, the film is still an intriguing mystery.
