Principal Serenades Graduates With A Capella Of 'I Will Always Love You’

A principal in North Carolina stunned his senior students during their graduation ceremony on Sunday (June 6) after giving them a mesmerizing serenade.

Marcus Gause surprised the 2021 graduating class of T. Wingate Andrews High School in High Point with an a cappella performance of classic song “I Will Always Love You.”

“Of course, there was a nervousness because nobody sings behind Whitney Houston and the greats like Dolly Parton, but the lyrics were really what I was trying to portray to my students,” Gause told ABC News

“One of the things that the pandemic has really taught us is that we need more love, that students know that we love and care for them,” the principal added.

The serenade was caught on video and has since gone viral. His students told the outlet their beloved principal’s song will be something they never forget.

The song was originally released in 1974 by Dolly Parton and famously covered by the late Whitney Houston for the movie The Bodyguard. Houston’s version stayed at the top of the charts for 14 weeks.
